BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS

1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.

5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain

Journey to Motherhood

I’ve been reading blogs about couples who are ttc (trying to conceive). Most of them are very inspiring but there are some heartbreaking stories which I can relate. It really saddens me to recall all the things that dear husband and I went through. This journey is really a tough one. As of this writing, my heart feels like crying. I am here in the office having my night shift. The system is down so I have free time to blog.

It’s been so many years now since dear husband and I tried... and still trying to have a baby. My Partner in life is so supportive, willing and able to participate in this crazy journey. I thank God for giving me such a wonderful husband.

Two years ago we decided to undergo IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). So many tests, ultra sounds and TVS were done. Provera , Clomid and other medicines to boost fertility were also given to me. Dear husband diligently took his Vitamin E.

The cost of this so- called journey is very expensive and not covered by our HMO. SO DONATIONS ARE VERY VERY MUCH WELCOME ☺☺☺. Our families are not informed of all the stuffs that we are doing. Dear Husband and I are just clinging on with each other. We’re both scared that our families will not be able to absorb this crazy ride of ours.

Obviously the two IUIs that we had were unsuccessful! Year 2008 we stopped the fertility work ups due to financial constraints.

End of April 2010, Dear Husband and I agreed to try having work ups again. This will be our last attempt. It pains me soooo much to give this up but I guess we both have to move on… Our lives have been focused on this for so long. We believe that God will always have a much greater plan for us.

Hoping and praying that our baby will come this year.

Welcome AF

Finally, AF is here!

Funny noh?! Some women who are TTC won’t bother themselves to count the days until their period arrives. For this cycle lang naman yung sa akin. I’ve been a little stupid kasi in taking duphaston…hehehe! I exceeded the limit kasi. Kaya ito late na dumating.

Scheduled ako to visit my OB after 10 days. But since hindi ko pa tapos ang suppositories, by next month na lang siguro I can’t afford to fail the second pap smear, or else I need to shoulder the much expensive test.

ZERO OVERTIME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Hah!!! Just received an email from my Team Leader. above title was her email's subject.
All overtime/OT recall are cancelled. As in bold fonts . If ever we need to render an OT, still for approval pa.

Obando Feast

Every year as early as January, nagpa-plot na ako ng vacation leave dito sa office just to attend Obando Feast. The three day feast May 17 - 19 is being celebrated in  honor of San Pascual Baylon, Nuestra Señora Salambao and St. Claire.

Hubby and I vowed that as long as we can, yearly kami pupunta here to thank God for all the blessings and to ask for our fervent wish...to have a child.

Five years na kaming devotees of Obando Church.  We even participated sa street dancing last year.  Masaya naman kasi maraming kasama, as in everybody is dancing. Friendly yung mga tao namimigay sila ng free cold water, biscuits, candies etc. It's a must to bring an umbrella or hat, face towel, drinking water.  Also wear comfy clothes like cotton shirts, walking shorts or jeans.

Super happy ang feeling, looking forward ulit next year. Hopefully may kasama na kaming baby.

UPDATES

Yesterday was my 3rd visit with Dr. Dorothy Mildred Sia-Cu.  Hubby & I arrived at the hospital at 8:45 am.  OB's schedule for that day was 9am-12pm.  I'm patient no. 19, imagine people really arrived there so early just to avoid being on the last of the list.  We had breakfast at KFC.  Hubby ordered a "bakulaw meal" - KFC's Fully loaded! I had wow meals...

When she arrived at 10 am, she started immediately with her routines.  All of us patiently waited.  I had conversations with preggy moms, received good feedback about Dr. Sia-Cu. And sends me lots of baby dusts too. I really enjoyed chatting with them.

I've learned so many things with my newly found "buddies".

I was a little bit sad to see preggy women...but I know that my day will come.

Hubby patiently waited too.  He's busy watching Diz Is It (not so entertaining show ...for me..heheeh!)

At 1:30 pm finally!  I entered to Dra's room. She greeted me with a big smile. Since I just finished the suppositories, she checked me again thru IE... Super sad me again... I still have to take 7 more suppositories.

Hopefully after this I will be fine na. Or else I will have to undergo some pap smear thing which is not covered by Medicard.

Metformin is still part of the work up.  Duphaston should be taken on my 10th day for 10 DAYS.  I highlighted it coz I mistakenly took it for 20 days!!!  Imagine how much it costs me!

I'm scheduled to see her again after 10 days of AF.  The supposedly 28th day cycle is now impossible (hoping for this cycle only).

Food as Medicine

Something to share...

HEADACHE? EAT FISH!
Eat plenty of fish -- fish oil helps prevent headaches. So does ginger, which reduces inflammation and pain.

HAY FEVER? EAT YOGURT!

Eat lots of yogurt before pollen season. Also-eat honey from your area (local region) daily.

TO PREVENT STROKE DRINK TEA!

Prevent buildup of fatty deposits on artery walls with regular doses of tea. (actually, tea suppresses my appetite and keeps the pounds from invading....Green tea is great for our immune system)!

INSOMNIA (CAN'T SLEEP?) HONEY!
Use honey as a tranquilizer and sedative.

ASTHMA? EAT ONIONS!!!!

Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes. (when I was young, my mother would make onion packs to place on our chest, helped the respiratory ailments and actually made us breathe better).

ARTHRITIS? EAT FISH, TOO!!
Salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines actually prevent arthritis.
(fish has omega oils, good for our immune system)

UPSET STOMACH? BANANAS - GINGER!!!!!
Bananas will settle an upset stomach. Ginger will cure morning sickness and nausea.

High-acid cranberry juice controls harmful bacteria.

Oysters help improve your mental functioning by supplying much-needed zinc.

COLDS? EAT GARLIC!
Clear up that stuffy head with garlic. (remember, garlic lowers cholesterol, too.)

The chromium in broccoli and peanuts helps regulate insulin and blood sugar.

Kiwi: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. It's Vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

Apple: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low Vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of Vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of
colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

Strawberry: Protective fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protects the body from cancer causing, blood vessels clogging free radicals. (Actually, any berry is good for you..they're high in anti-oxidants and they actually keep us young.........blueberries are the best and very versatile in the health field........they get rid of all the free-radicals that invade our bodies)

Orange: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2 - 4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessen the risk of colon cancer.

Watermelon: Coolest Thirst Quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer
fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are Vitamin C & Potassium. (watermelon also has natural substances [natural SPF sources] that keep our skin healthy, protecting our skin from those darn uv rays)

Guava & Papaya: Top awards for Vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high Vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber which helps prevent constipation.

Papaya is rich in carotene, this is good for your eyes. (also good for gas and indigestion)

Sobra! Grabe! Unfair!

Sobra!  Grabe! Unfair!

Hay these are the words na madalas marinig ko sa office.

Next month releasing daw ng new TO (table of organization)...

Some people here in the office who doesn't have any idea what's happening around them will accuse you of being HB...High Blood!

Just wait till they learn about this...HB din for sure sila.

9 words Women Use

1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.

Five Minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with Nothing usually end in Fine.

4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A Loud Sigh means she thinks you are an idiot a nd wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of Nothing.)

6.) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's Okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome.

8.) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying #%&@ YOU!

9.) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement; meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

It's been 4 weeks now since I had coffee. My OB gyne told me to stop taking caffeine, since I'm TTC. But this morning a stubborn-me reigned! Took a cup of black coffee...guess what happened... I palpitated and I really don't like the effect. My hands keep on shaking..Tigas kasi ng ulo.

So confused.

April 17: Had my first visit to my new OB . Hubby and I are grateful to know her. She's highly recommended in FemaleNetwork.com forum. She was able to explain to us the work up that we will be doing.

April 18: Start taking folart & Vit. E

April 21: TSH, T3, T4, TPO tests and Thyroid ultra sound. All my blood tests are normal. Except for the thyroid ultra sound, it shows there that I have 2 cysts. Still have to consult with an Endocrinologist about it.

April 22: AF, aunt flo arrived

April 28: TVS at UDMC

April 30: 2nd visit to OB. Had pap smear. Found out that I'm PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)

May 1: Started with Metformin (Humamet), Duphaston. Suppositories for my infections

May 5: Had second opionion with an OB-Sonologist. She told me that my ovaries are normal.

Confusing right?

Plan: will seek another OB's opinion...sana this time please God maging ok na talaga. I'm willing to under go (again) fertility work up...

Excited to know who will be the next Philippine President ☺☺☺

Grow Old with you (for my hubby)

I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I’ll miss you

I’ll kiss you

Give you my coat when you are cold
I’ll need you
I’ll feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you’ve had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you

I wanna grow old with you

Time of the year

Mother's Day (May 9, 2010)!

This is the time of the year where I feel super sad.

It is so hard to avoid the feeling... I longed to become a mother.

Madalas iniisip ko darating pa kaya yung time that I'll get a big tummy...not just because of fats but bec. I am carrying a child.

Dear God, please hear my fervent wish...

But what if wala talaga...for now, ayoko munang isipin yun.
Sabi ni hubby as long as we have each other ok na yun.
I am super scared that I'll be growing older and having more diffuculties in bearing a child.

Gusto kong maging 100% mommy, nanay, mama...or kahit ano basta MOTHER!
